MBMentors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all-volunteer organization, and we are looking for volunteers to support our mission of helping entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout Minnesota. If you have a passion to assist business people and have 6 - 12 hours a month available, consider becoming an MBMentor team member!
Overview:
MBMentors is a diverse all volunteer team of individuals brought together by the mission to advise and support entrepreneurs and small business owners. We are looking for self-starters to work with our non-profit organization to lead and facilitate Executive roundtable discussions with Owners/Leaders of small businesses ($1M to $50M) in the twin cities area.
Roundtable facilitators lead engaging discussions that inspire business leaders to connect, learn, and grow! As a facilitator, you’ll be instrumental in fostering meaningful networking, problem-solving, and skill-building among peers.
What You'll Do:

Guide roundtable discussions, ensuring a positive, inclusive atmosphere.

Encourage open dialogue, exchange of ideas, and collaborative problem-solving.

Keep conversations productive and respectful.

Summarize key insights and action items after each session.

Help create an environment where business leaders can thrive and learn from each other.
What We're Looking For:
-
10+ years of business management and team leadership experience.
-
Experience in facilitating group discussions or meetings.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to manage group dynamics and maintain focus.
-
Skilled in fostering engagement.
-
Comfortable with documenting meeting outcomes and follow-ups.
Time Commitment:
-
Half-day a month for roundtable meeting,
-
Addional half-day per month for administrative work (pre and post meeting).

Can commit to attending 8 - 10 monthly meetings per year.

An orientation to decide if facilitating is for you.
Training Provided:

We offer training in group facilitation skills.

Co-facilitation. You’ll learn to facilitate by observing and then co-facilitating with one of our experienced facilitators.

We're seeking a motivated and skilled volunteer to help small business owners thrive in the digital landscape. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your expertise to empower entrepreneurs, build your portfolio, and contribute to a meaningful cause.
Responsibilities:

Assist small business owners with developing and implementing social media strategies.

Provide guidance on website content and basic optimization.

Offer support with various digital marketing efforts, such as email marketing or online advertising (depending on your skills).

Collaborate with our team to understand the specific needs of the businesses we support.

MBMentors is looking for a volunteer to help us with a once a month onsite event.
Do you enjoy planning meetings, ordering food, coordinating on-site meetings? We have a need for a volunteer to help us for a few hours, once a month. Here are the details:
Location: Downtown, Minneapolis (parking paid)
Event Time: Second Thursday of the month, (September 2025 – April 2026) 7:15 – 10:00 am
Responsibilities:
Catering & Setup
1. Order Food and Beverage once a month for approximately 60 people.

Order breakfast and coffee refresh 3 – 4 days prior to meeting. Vendors vary (e.g., Panera, Bruegger’s, etc.).

Coordinate delivery with catering vendor (e.g., DoorDash). Delivery is to arrive no later than 7:15 am
2. Catering Coordination (on-site):
Breakfast
-
Arrive at meeting site by 7:15 AM to meet driver with breakfast delivery at front door and escort them to the dining room.

Set-up food and beverages by 7:45
Morning Break
-
2 alternatives for refresh:
-
1: Preorder coffee refresh through breakfast vendor.
-
2: Order and pickup coffee from nearby Starbucks.
-

(If delivered) meet delivery of coffee refresh by 9:15 am at front door
-
Refresh is to be taken to 16th floor kitchenette for set-up.
-
After main meeting breaks at 9:30, cleanup dining room.
Name Tags & Participant Check-in

Name Tags – Order and provide blank tags and markers at the welcome table.

Have agendas available for all participants (from MBM team leader

Welcome participants and speakers as they arrive.
Skills and Qualities:

Organized and punctual, particularly for catering delivery coordination.

Friendly and welcoming, able to assist with participant and speaker check-ins.
-
Ability to handle logistics for catering or coffee options depending on the event's needs.

Arrive at 7:15 AM for catering delivery coordination.

As a Volunteer Mentor, you'll work directly with entrepreneurs and small business owners, offering your insights on various financial aspects crucial to their success. As a mentor you'll provide practical, actionable advice, helping mentees navigate the complexities of business finance.
Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one mentorship to entrepreneurs and small business owners, offering guidance on financial strategies, business planning, and growth.

Share your expertise in areas such as:

Access to capital: loan applications, credit lines, alternative funding.

Financial management: budgeting, cash flow, profit and loss analysis.

Banking relationships: optimizing services, understanding financial products.

Risk assessment and mitigation from a financial perspective.

Strategic financial planning for growth and sustainability.

Offer constructive feedback and support, helping mentees identify challenges and develop solutions.

Act as a trusted advisor, encouraging sound financial practices and informed decision-making.

Commit approximately 8-10 hours per month, with flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability and the needs of mentees.
