George believes his two most important mentoring qualifications are (1) He knows what it’s like to watch the mailbox to see if enough customer checks come in to cover payroll, and (2) He knows what it’s like to personally guarantee a bank loan big enough to wipe out his family’s net worth.
George initially worked in high tech where his customers really were rocket scientists (JPL, NASA). After 15+ years in that world, he bought and became CEO of a niche business (about 25 employees) that sold service station gas pumps and parts nationwide. He also owned and managed small residential properties for about 20 years. His tiniest business sold sports car racing parts and supplies out of his home garage.
